Enneagram Wings

Today we are starting the four week of our six weeks series on the Enneagram Basics and Productivity. The Enneagram is one of the tools we use to help disorganized people achieve their goals and increase productivity.

This week in the Uniquely Focused Community and the Terrie Power Coaching social media, we are exploring the wings of the Enneagram Types.

The Enneagram is a powerful tool for understanding your personality, motivations, and behaviors.

But did you know that each Enneagram type also has two adjacent wings that further shape your personality?

In Enneagram theory, your dominant type is influenced by the two adjacent types, which are often referred to as your “wings.” For example, if you’re a Type 4, your wings are 3 and 5. This means that you may exhibit some of the characteristics of both types, in addition to your dominant type.

Check out the video with a list of wings for each type:

So how can you use your Enneagram wings to grow and develop as a person?

Here are some tips:

Identify your dominant type and wings.

The first step to using the Enneagram for personal growth is to identify your dominant type and wings. Many online Enneagram tests can help you determine your type, but it’s also important to read up on the different types and see which one resonates with you the most.

Embrace your strengths.

Your wings can serve as both strengths and challenges. Take some time to reflect on the positive qualities of your dominant type and wings, and find ways to incorporate them into your life. For example, if you’re a Type 4 with a 5 wing, you may be naturally curious and analytical. Use these strengths to pursue your passions and learn new things.

Work on your challenges.

Your wings can also present challenges that may hold you back. For example, if you’re a Type 4 with a 3 wing, you may be prone to comparing yourself to others and feeling inadequate. Recognize these tendencies and work on developing more self-compassion and self-acceptance.

Find balance.

Balancing your dominant type and wings can be a key to personal growth. For example, if you’re a Type 7 with an 8 wing, you may be naturally adventurous and assertive. But developing your 6 wing can help you balance these qualities with caution and consideration for others.

Remember, the Enneagram is not a definitive guide to your personality but rather a tool for self-awareness and personal growth. By understanding your dominant type and wings, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your tendencies and find ways to grow and develop as a person.

Uniquely Yours,

Terrie
